[ Catch Stephen around with a toolkit, fixing wobbly tables and chairs in common areas and the cafeteria. Feel free to have him fixing something specifically requested.

Alternatively, catch him floating down a river in CES. Chillin'. In a canoe. Like you do.

Also alternatively, he can always be found going for runs, at least once a day, up and down the stairs and in whatever environment the CES provides for him.

He has hardly said a word to his friends since Nick arrived. But he'll be doing his best to pretend nothing's wrong. ]

[Jack is almost always in the infirmary during daylight hours now. Sitting around in his room isn't accomplishing anything, and he's still on the Barge and nothing's different, so whether or not Kate had been able to warn everyone to stay on the Island is looking less and less likely.

Unless this is some alternate universe thing, and that's still really not helpful.

Working is easier, and with David puttering around doing his own thing or Scott swinging by to hang out or help, Jack more or less has access to whatever he wants, and it's easier to feel like when someone says doctor, they're actually asking for him. Not just assuming he's some murderer who has no idea what he's doing.

So he spots Stephen pretty quickly, drops the chart he was looking at and heads over quickly, already trying to visually assess the damage as much as he can]

What happened? [Although considering their newer arrivals, Jack has a guess and it involves someone with very sharp teeth.]

[ He lets Jack direct him - exam table, sitting down, staying there, whatever. He may not be a wonderful patient when he's in the process of long recovery, but at the moment he knows he's out of his depth, medically, and he has no hesitation about putting his health in the hands of a doctor. Even though Jack is apparently an inmate. None of Stephen's business.

He winces, a little, at the pull of pain in his neck. ]

Is there doctor-patient confidentiality on an interdimensional space boat?

[Once Stephen's sitting down and apparently not in danger of collapsing, Jack goes to grab something to clean and hopefully seal the wound. He sounds a little wry when he responds.]

The Hippocratic Oath doesn't list an exception for interdimensional boats, no.

[So go for it, he won't tell.]

[ And, dangerously, Stephen considers telling the truth. How it made him feel. Something about drawing himself back to life. ]

Vampire. The new one.

Chalk this up as something he's never had to deal with before.

So Jack looks a little surprised, but still gestures for Stephen to move the makeshift compress so he can start cleaning the wound.]

Any idea on how vampirism transfers where he's from?

[Are you going to flip out and try to bite him?]

[ He peels it away, leaving a nice horror-movie show behind. Fortunately, the blood that's on the outside isn't as much as all that, and it's all fresh. Stephen is certain he's not in danger of bleeding out, so long as he doesn't act like a moron right now. ]

It was just an attack. None of the Anne Rice stuff. Don't you have to die first?

I think it depends on the vampire. [But he sounds a little distracted now as he starts cleaning up the wound, trying to see how deep it is, if it'll need stitches.]

[ It looks like it's bleeding a lot, but the wound really isn't that bad. It could use a couple of precautionary stitches, maybe, but taping it closed could do as well. ]

Not really my area of expertise.

Can't say it was mine, either. But I guess we have to adapt.

[He's thinking tape at this point, honestly. Sticking a needle through someone's neck is something you generally want to avoid unless there's no other option, and, well. In this case, there is.]
